Cristiano Ronaldo completes £80m move to Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo has finalised his £80m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid with a 6 year contract. Sir Alex Ferguson has wished the 24 year old winger well in his future career after the £80m fee is paid in full. It is also reported that Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to Ronaldo who goals have helped Manchester United bring three successive titles back to Old Trafford.
Ferguson has praised the new Real Madrid player saying ”Cristiano has been a marvellous player for Manchester United. His six years at Old Trafford have seen him develop into the best footballer in the world. His contribution has been a major factor in the club’s success in that time and his talent, his ability to entertain and his infectious personality have enthralled fans the world over.”
A statement posted on Real Madrids website reads: “The player will be tied to Real Madrid for the next six seasons. He will be presented on 6 July at the Santiago Bernabeu.”
Wigan winger Valencia signs with Manchester United
Antonio Valencia has signed a 4 year contract with Manchester United after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The 23 year old Ecuador international is the first major signing for Manchester United’s forthcoming season. It is reported that Valencia has cost United £16m, however the transfer fee is undisclosed.
Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have said “Antonio is a player we have admired for some time now, having spent the last two years in the Premier League with Wigan, I am sure his pace and ability will make a significant contribution to the team.”
Valencia is thrilled with his new place at Old Trafford saying ”I have enjoyed my time at Wigan, but I am thrilled to have the chance to challenge for the biggest honours in club football here. Playing in front of 76,000 fans alongside players like Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs will be an amazing experience. I can’t wait to get started.”
